Illustrated with hand-colored aquatint frontispiece, uncolored etched title-page (on J. Whatman Turkey Mill watermarked paper, dated 1825), 54 hand-colored aquatint plates with etching (many on J. Whatman or Turkey Mill watermarked paper, dated 1825), and one etched plate at rear (plan of the Bombardment of Algiers), by T. Sutherland and others, after T. Whitcombe. Full contemporary crimson straight-grain morocco, decorated in blind and in gilt, boards scuffed and soiled, spine and joints dry, extremities and corners rubbed and lightly worn; all edges gilt; gift inscription on verso of front free endpaper, Manchester, 1866; light offsetting from plates; scattered light spotting and soiling.
